Kentucky Locks Groundbreaking

Lt. Colonel Anthony Mitchell of the US Army Corps of Engineers spoke to a gathering of citizens and local politicians at a groundbreaking ceremony for the $47 million dollar Kentucky Locks expansion on Friday.
Lt. Colonel Mitchell said that not only will the addition create “better, faster, water highways – but it will also have a significant, positive economic impact on the entire Western Kentucky region.”
USACE Project Manager Don Getty and our own Larry Fantozzi spoke as well, expressing their commitment to work closely together in the interests of a succesful project.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, local residents were encouraged to ask questions and view a scale model of the lock expansion that the USACE had assembled onsite.
