Thalle Awarded USACE SHEP Raw Water Impoundment

Thalle Construction Co., Inc. was awarded the US Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District SHEP Raw Water Storage Impoundment project Friday, December 11, 2015.
The Savannah Harbor Raw Water Storage Impoundment Project involves placement of an earthen dike approximately 3,400 feet in length, with a maximum height of 29 feet, and a total material volume of approximately 440,000 cubic yards. It includes clearing and grubbing, construction of access roads, hauling fill material, placement of an HDPE liner, associated piping and valves, a mechanical mixing system, 4- 500 hp 21 mgd pumps with VFDs and cans, a 1 MW generator with fuel storage, a pump station and electrical building, electrical service, instrumentation, a powdered activated carbon system with a silo and feed equipment, groundwater well, hydropneumatic tank, and fencing of the entire facility. Influent and effluent pipelines will be required between the impoundment and the existing City of Savannah water lines. Some instrumentation and controls will be located at the City of Savannah Water Plant in Port Wentworth. Monitoring gages will be installed in various locations.
